Continuous Professional Development - CPD

Is Continuous Professional Development - CPD - a requirement of your professional life?

If so, you may find yourself like many others at this time of year trawling professional journals or the internet for a course or workshop that meets your particular CPD requirements.  While there are a wide range of courses on offer I often hear the complaint 'I don't want to waste time or money for the sake of it - I want a course that can nourish me in my professional life, and they are hard to find.'

In response to this dilemma I have been experimenting with designing CPD sessions to meet the individual requirements of small groups of people from a variety of professions - 'bespoke' CPD could be one way to describe them.  The evaluations have been encouraging and it seems a small focussed group setting is worthwhile to all concerned.

While my own area of expertise is in psychotherapy, clinical supervision and ethics, I have found these skills to be of value when presented to groups of teachers, religious, civil and public servants, complementary therapists, solicitors, academics, accountants and various other professionals, particularly when tailored to meet the individual needs of each group.

Most professionals have to deal with interpersonal interaction as a routine part of their work.  Trying to get the job done in an effective manner does not generally leave time to unravel the impact of a person's professional life at a personal level.  Ignoring the personal response, to what can often be challenging situations, can leave an individual inclined to stress and burn-out.

The unique type of CPD which I facilitate provides an opportunity to learn new skills to support you as a person as you engage with your professional life.  The practicalities are that I can facilitate a CPD session on any issue that is relevant to the particular group over a morning, evening or a full day.  Certificates of attendance stating the number of hours are provided for CPD purposes in all cases. Two to three hours is generally the minimum for a small group session of up to 8 people.  Full day sessions can be arranged for a Saturday if required.

If any of this comes close to meeting your need at this time, do give me a call to tease out your particular requirements.
