Mary Stefanazzi MA Ethics

Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor and Trainer - Offering Support in Challenging Times

I offer over 30 years experience in dealing with personal development in a variety of settings.  I grew up in a family business environment, in Clontarf in Dublin, where innovation and creativity were the norm.  I was also fortunate to have the perspective of another culture from my Italian ancestry. Throughout my career I have worked in both the corporate and government environment.   My commitment to lifelong learning and continued personal and professional development equips me to offer a unique service.  The service I provide integrates my life experience, my professional training in ethics, psychotherapy and clinical supervision, and my conviction that each person has within them all the wisdom they need to live a fulfilled life, and to realise their full potential.

It has been my experience that great potential exists in each of us.  However the evidence from our lives all to often indicates that few have learned the tools to unlock this potential.  The service I offer can facilitate any person who is willing to unlock this innate potential.

The steps required will be different for each individual, and are determined in the context of a supportive relationship as an active partnership.

I have been an Accredited Psychotherapist since 1994 and a Clinical Supervisor since 2000.  The accrediting body that has examined my professional credentials is the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy, (IAHIP), a member organisation of the Irish Council for Psychotherapy, (ICP).  You can also find me in the UK & Ireland Directory of Counselling & Psychotherapy.

Members of IAHIP are currently required to apply for re-accreditation every five years.  In addition, I hold the European Certificate of Psychotherapy; conferred in 2003; by the European Association for Psychotherapy, (ECP).

The profession of Psychotherapy is currently not regulated by the State in Ireland, although steps have been taken in this regard.  An interesting link to the debate regarding statutory regulation of Psychotherapists worth reading can be found here.

In the circumstances, as a consumer of any psychological therapy, you would be well advised to check the accreditation status of a service provider you are considering engaging.  The book Psychotherapy in Ireland gives some useful information on the various disciplines within the profession of Psychotherapy in Ireland.
